Dear Prayer Team, 

Travel to Samar

Thank you for your prayers for my safe travel to the   Philippines.  I arrived here on November 23.  I am planning to   travel by light truck to Tacloban beginning about midnight tonight.  I   am traveling with ABWE missionary Ben Horton and friend AC Acosta.

 Please pray for our safety in travel.  Particularly   pray for us as we attempt to cross from the island of Luzon to the island of   Samar by ferry.  Because of all of the traffic bringing goods to the   Tacloban area, many have had to wait a long time in line.  Pray that the   authorities in charge of the ferries would recognize that we are a legitimate   relief team and give us priority.

Pastor Ely Haligado has graciously invited us to stay at   the Fundamental Baptist Church in Calbayog City.  This church has   already distributed rice to hungry believers in Leyte and Samar.  We   plan to spend the night there, and then seek out people in our churches in   Samar who are in need of food and encouragement.  After surveying Samar,   we plan to have a truck deliver food to those in need, then we will travel on   to Tacloban.

New Life Baptist Church   of Tacloban

JJ Rayos, daughter of the   former pastor here, Ed Rayos, took this picture of New Life Baptist Church of   Tacloban.  We are so thankful that the church is still standing.    We have so many friends here.  We are thankful, as we look at JJ’s pictures   to see church members working together to clean up the mud left behind by the   flood.

Our   House

      We are thankful our house in   Tacloban City is still standing.  We cannot tell how much of the roof is   left.  2/3 of the church’s roof is gone (it is on the right side of the   picture.)  We have tarps to cover the holes in the roof and tools to be   used in replacing the roofing.

Prayer   Requests

• Pray for safe and unimpeded travel to Samar.
• Pray that we would be able to locate believers and others who are praying for help.
• Pray for us to meet others who are giving relief and form partnerships with some of them.
• Pray for God to give us a workable strategy for   relief.
• Pray for Allene as she recovers from pneumonia.
• Pray for God to move people to continue to give        towards the Philippine Typhoon Relief Fund.
• Pray for us to spend funds wisely where they will        meet our goals, and that money would not be wasted.
• Pray that there will be no misunderstandings on how relief funds are spent.
• Pray that our house would not be looted.
• Pray that God would supply workers to repair our house and truck.
